Finally–the best season of the year is here. (We say that about every season though…) No springtime allergies, no summer overheating, and no winter rain. The weather is perfectly warm, the tourists are mostly gone, and there are plenty of things to do. Here are some of our favorite things to do to get in the autumn spirit in Southern California.
Apple Picking at Riley’s Stone Soup Farm & Heritage Orchard in Oak Glen, CA
Price Range: $3.25 per pound of apples picked
Date and Time: Opening the first weekend in October so mark your calendars
Location: 12131 S. Oak Glen Rd. Oak Glen, CA 92399
Description: Take a day trip with your family and friends out to Stone Soup Farm & Heritage Orchard for some U-Pick Apples! Pick some Stayman-Winesap apples and maybe even make some apple cider with it while you’re there. We recommend going a little early since the parking is limited.
Family Fun at Tanaka Farms in Irvine, CA
Price Range: $4 admission fee; tickets for sale for activities
Date and Time: September 22nd – October 31; open daily from 9:00am – 6:00pm; Parking passes required on weekends and will be available for purchase online
Location: 5380 University Dr, Irvine, CA 92612
Description: Pumpkin picking, photo ops, wagon rides, corn maze, petting zoo, pumpkin cannon, and so much more! Tanaka Farms is the perfect place to bring your family for a day full of exciting activities.
Thrilling Nights at Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, CA
Price Range: Varies depending on tickets
One night admission starting at $42
$95 admission to every night
Scary Farm Combo Packages available for $120-$149.99
Date and Time: Thursdays – Sundays from September 20 – October 31, 2018
Location: 8039 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620
Description: Knott’s Scary Farm is notorious for being the largest and most haunting Halloween experience in Southern California. The park includes haunted mazes and attractions, thrill rides, grotesque stage performances, and much more. This is not event recommended for children under 13.
Drinks at Oktoberfest at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA
Price Range: $10 for general admission; $10 for event parking
Date and Time: October 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th from 6:00pm – 12:00am
Location: 1101 W McKinley Ave., Pomona, CA 91768
Description: Oktoberfest brings a drop of Germany to LA at the Fairplex to celebrate Bavarian culture with music, games, food, and gallons upon gallons of beer. Must be 21 and over to enter, and have ID for proof of age.
Other Things to Do
Dark Harbor is hosted at the Queen Mary in Long Beach starting from September 27 through November 2. Guests can not only spend the night aboard the haunted ship, they can take part in mazes, nightly live entertainment, haunted bars, and thrilling rides.
Universal Studios in Hollywood hosts Halloween Horror Nights and features a wide range of mazes and attractions based on film and television story plots. Come see “Where true fear comes from within” starting September 14 through November 3.
Pa’s Pumpkin Patch in Long Beach, CA is family friendly and offers similar activities to Tanaka Farms like pumpkins, petting zoos, and a variety of games and rides. It’s open from September 28th – October 31, 2018.
