The Power of Newsletter Marketing

If you’re a regular online consumer or a participant in the 9-5 workforce, you truly know the power of email. You’re constantly checking for your shipping notifications, order confirmations, work related approvals, client updates, and more.

Email is essential to the digital marketing space, and every industry uses it. Companies as big as Forever 21, or ones as small your local florist, are using newsletters as promotion. An important distinction that email marketing has over other forms of marketing is that people must opt-in. You don’t send unsolicited information to people that have no interest in your products or services. Instead, you send it to people who have actively chosen to hear from you, have shopped with you before, or want to keep up to date with news and announcements. This is great because now you have direct access to clients who already have brand awareness, making the sale just that much easier.

What do you do with newsletters?

There are a few common ways people use email marketing, the first being sales and promotions! Whether you’re doing something “back to school” related or a holiday sale, you can make sure everyone stays informed via email. You can blow out old inventory and have a clearance sale, or even boost your foot traffic in a store by incentivizing your customers with discount coupons.

If you sell a product, you can include product spotlights to upsell and show customers other options. You have the ability to showcase other services you provide that previous clients may not have known about. If you do HVAC work, but also do plumbing, make sure your customers know that via email marketing. You can even pair it with a discount for even better results.

Another way you can utilize the power of email marketing is with back-in-stock notifications and reminders. If a customer took an interest in a product that was out of stock online, you can send emails to notify them when it becomes available again. This is a great way to maximize sales since the potential customer is ready to buy, but was unable to initially. With reminders, you can notify shoppers that they have items in their cart they haven’t yet purchased. Similarly, if a sale is ending tomorrow on one of their abandoned cart items, you can send out reminders to make sure they can take advantage of the promotion. Newsletters ensure your customers are always in the loop when it comes to getting the best deals available to them, ultimately bringing in the sales you’re looking for.

Newsletters are great for business because some things can be automated. When people sign up with their email, you can shoot them a 5% thank you coupon without having to do it manually. As previously mentioned, you can also automate your reminders, allowing you more free time while still inciting sales. If you provide a service, you can even have confirmation emails sent to the client pending an appointment without ever needing to do it on your own.

If you’re not taking advantage of the power of newsletter marketing in today’s digital space, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. Make sure to grab customers directly from their inbox and reap the rewards that come along with it.
